The UK will be one of the most competitive marketplaces for energy managers’ skills in the next 5-7 years, as British businesses start to see the rise in the cost of energy as a priority.
Many companies in the UK either have no energy managers in place or have outsourced energy management, and therefore have reduced ability to manage their own energy consumption. In-house skills in energy management will lead to long term savings for companies. There is a major shortage of trained energy specialists and our apprenticeships will help to address the need for in-house energy management skills which can benefit organisations, across all sectors, including public hospitality, leisure, retail, banking, manufacturing, construction and property.
New targets will require the United Kingdom to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050: The UK became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming by 2050.
The UK has already reduced emissions by 42% while growing the economy by 72% and has put clean growth at the heart of our modern Industrial Strategy. This could see the number of “green collar jobs” grow to 2 million and the value of exports from the low carbon economy grow to £170 billion a year by 2030.
